Description

Catwoman #55 F is the striking 1:50 Dan Panosian foil variant from 2023. This edition transforms Panosian’s playful Catwoman artwork into a reflective full art presentation. Selina Kyle seems to glide across Gotham while a swarm of cats follows her through the night.

The bright gold foil background makes this cover instantly recognizable. Dark Gotham buildings rise along the left side as Catwoman moves effortlessly above the rooftops. Cats leap around her in every direction. Small cries of “Meow” and “Purrrr” add humor to the dramatic composition.

Dan Panosian created the pencils, inks, and colors for this cover. His loose painted approach gives the scene a stylish storybook quality. The lack of traditional trade dress also allows the artwork to dominate the entire front cover.

This particular edition was issued as a 1:50 retailer incentive. That makes it considerably less common than the regular cover and standard card stock variants. The foil treatment also separates it from Panosian’s regular Cover C version of the same artwork.

Inside, Catwoman #55 contains “Rise and Revenge Part Five.” Tini Howard wrote the story, with artwork by Nico Leon. Veronica Gandini handled the colors, while Lucas Gattoni provided the lettering.

Selina Kyle has recently escaped incarceration and is ready to reclaim her place in Gotham. Her time away has changed the criminal landscape. It has also created an unusual problem.

Eiko Hasigawa has been operating as Catwoman during Selina’s absence.

Selina and Eiko finally reconnect as tensions surrounding Gotham’s underworld continue to build. Both women have their own ideas about protecting the city. They also need to decide how two Catwomen can operate without destroying each other’s plans.

The story also continues the development of Dario Tomasso, better known as Tomcat. His conflict with Noah Godard becomes increasingly dangerous. Their history has reached the point where a deadly confrontation appears unavoidable.

Selina takes Dario under her wing and prepares him for what is coming. That relationship shows another side of Catwoman. She is not simply stealing jewels or escaping Batman. She is trying to reshape Gotham’s criminal world on her own terms.

Black Mask also remains part of the larger struggle surrounding Gotham’s organized crime. His presence adds more danger to a story already filled with competing loyalties.

For collectors, Catwoman #55 is not primarily remembered as a major first appearance. The appeal of this version comes from its scarcity and presentation. The 1:50 incentive format gives variant collectors a much tougher edition to locate.

The foil surface is especially effective with Panosian’s yellow and green color palette. Light reflects differently across the background, buildings, Catwoman, and surrounding cats. That effect gives the physical comic much more presence than a standard printed image can show.

This is a strong modern Catwoman collectible for fans of Dan Panosian artwork, foil covers, retailer incentives, and distinctive full art variants. It also captures Selina during an important period when her role in Gotham was changing rapidly.
