The search eventually leads toward the mysterious space between waking life and dreams. Sandman helps send Deadman and Damian into this strange realm. There they discover the House of Horror and face a deeply personal test connected to Deadman’s past.
Their journey finally brings them to the Nightmare Stone. Obtaining it forces Deadman to confront a disturbing vision of his own death. The discovery becomes an important turning point because the heroes finally possess something capable of challenging Insomnia.
Joshua Williamson wrote the story, with artwork by Giuseppe Camuncoli, Stefano Nesi, and Caspar Wijngaard. Their changing visual approaches help distinguish reality, memory, and the nightmare realms throughout the issue.
For collectors, Cover D adds another major attraction through its Ivan Reis artwork. Reis has illustrated many important characters and events across modern comics. His detailed anatomy and large scale action are especially effective on a cover filled with creatures and combat.
