Description
Venom: Lethal Protector II #3 delivers a sharp blast of 1990s inspired symbiote action with Eddie Brock at the center. The story, titled “Bright Apocalypse,” comes from legendary Venom writer David Michelinie. Artist Farid Karami handles the interior artwork, with colors by Arif Prianto.
This chapter places Venom in the middle of a dangerous international conflict. Eddie has joined forces with Silver Sable and her Wild Pack. Their mission involves technology powerful enough to threaten the entire planet. That puts the group directly into the world of Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D.
Venom is hardly the typical choice for a government operative. That contrast gives the issue much of its personality. Eddie must operate within Fury’s rules while remaining the unpredictable Lethal Protector collectors know. When New York City comes under attack, Venom suddenly becomes an important part of the response.
The danger grows even larger with Doctor Doom entering the story. Doom has his own interest in the technology being pursued. More importantly, he develops an interest in Venom himself. The issue builds toward a memorable confrontation that carries directly into the next chapter.
Vulture and Cardiac also appear, helping give the story a strong connection to Venom’s earlier comic era. Silver Sable remains an important presence throughout the adventure. Together, these characters create the kind of oversized cast that suits Michelinie’s approach to Venom.
Michelinie’s involvement is especially meaningful for longtime collectors. As one of Venom’s original creators, he helped establish Eddie Brock as one of the most recognizable characters of the late 1980s and 1990s. Lethal Protector II allowed him to return to that earlier period of Venom history while telling a new story.
The regular cover by Paulo Siqueira adds another collector angle. Its composition pays tribute to the classic cover of Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. #4. The artwork combines Venom’s intimidating appearance with the graphic spy imagery associated with that famous design. Siqueira even places the heavily armed Venom directly into the visual language of vintage espionage comics.
Released in 2023, this is the third chapter of the five issue Venom: Lethal Protector II limited series. It offers classic Eddie Brock attitude, Silver Sable action, Nick Fury intrigue, and the arrival of Doctor Doom. For collectors who enjoy Venom’s 1990s personality, this issue captures that spirit while adding a striking homage cover.
